A house RESOLUTION

 

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE RIVER BLUFF HIGH SCHOOL BOYS GOLF TEAM AND THEIR COACHES FOR AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM FOR WINNING THE 2025 SOUTH CAROLINA HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE AAAAA DIVISION 1 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.

 

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased learn that the members of the River Bluff High School boys golf team took home the state title at the 2025 South Carolina High School League AAAAA Division 1 State Championship match held at The WildeWood Club in Columbia on May 19-20, 2025; and

 

Whereas, this win marks the River Bluff boys golf team's first state championship title in program history. They have had an impressive season this year, winning the upper state championship title for the first time in program history the week before; and

 

Whereas, after not qualifying for the state tournament last season, the Gators used that loss as motivation and came into this season with something to prove. They fought hard to get to the championship tournament, overcoming many adversities throughout the season. In the championship match River Bluff and Dorman High School were in a stiff head-to-head competition, finishing the first day tied with 301 points. The Gators defeated the Dorman Cavaliers by three strokes, ending the two-day tournament with a total of 602 points; and

 

Whereas, in a sport that requires mental and physical strength, Head Coach Roger Smith and his talented coaching staff utilized their own experiences and passion for the sport to mold a championship-caliber team. The lessons that they have taught these young athletes will prove invaluable throughout their lives on and off the course; and

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives value the pride and recognition that the River Bluff High School boys golf team have brought to their school and their community. Their commitment to excellence promises even greater success in the years ahead. Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

 

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the River Bluff High School boys golf team and their coaches for an outstanding season and congratulate them for winning the 2025 South Carolina High School League AAAAA Division 1 State Championship title.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to River Bluff High School Principal Jacob Smith and Head Coach Roger Smith.
