A house RESOLUTION
To congratulate the Laurence Manning Academy Softball Team on its stellar season and to salute its members for capturing the 2025 South Carolina Independent School Association Class 4A State Championship.
Whereas, determined to defend their 2024 championship and become back-to-back champions, the Laurence Manning Academy Lady Swampcats played with great determination and spirit in the 2025 South Carolina Independent School Association Class 4A State Championship series, held on May 15, 2025; and
Whereas, coming off of a championship win last season, the Lady Swampcats and their coaches were determined to keep the momentum going this season. Finishing the regular season with an impressive record of twenty-four wins and only three losses, the Laurence Manning Academy players set out with a goal to work together as one to successfully defend their SCISA 4A State Championship title; and
Whereas, in the 2025 state championship series, Laurence Manning would battle it out against the Wilson Hall Barons in a best-two-out-of-three series to determine who would capture the title, the glory, and the hardware that only champions get to take home. After easily defeating the Lady Barons in game one with a 5-1 score, the Lady Swampcats were one game away from defending their title and finishing their spectacular season by becoming back-to-back state champions; and
Whereas, game two was a tough battle, by the top of the second inning, the Barons had a four-run lead, but the Swampcats played hard, stopping any additional scores and scoring 5 runs throughout the remainder of the game. They finished the game with a 5-4 score, defeating the Barons and becoming Back-to-Back SCISA 4A Softball State Champions; and
Whereas, throughout the season, Head Coach Buddy Truett, assisted by his brilliant coaching staff, George Kosinski, Lisa Ard, and Amy Marshall, drew upon his own considerable talents and skills in molding his team members into back-to-back champions; and
Whereas, the journey to winning the state title required discipline, dedication, and teamwork, qualities that will always serve these young women well, both on and off the field. With admiration, the House recognizes and applauds the fine work of the Laurence Manning Academy softball team and wishes the members much continued success in all their future endeavors. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate the Laurence Manning Academy softball team on its stellar season and salute its members for capturing the 2025 South Carolina Independent School Association Class 4A State Championship.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Headmaster Allen Kirby and Head Coach Buddy Truett of Laurence Manning Academy.
