A house RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR Mendy Corder, municipal clerk for the City of Cayce, as she RETIREs AFTER twenty-nine years OF outstanding SERVICE, AND TO WISH HER much HAPPINESS IN HER well-deserved retirement.

Whereas, it is altogether fitting that the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives should pause in their deliberations to commend Mendy Corder as she begins a merited retirement after almost three decades with the City of Cayce; and

Whereas, in 1996, Ms. Corder began her distinguished career with the City of Cayce as the city's receptionist at the age of twenty-four, where her friendly presence and administrative skills made her an indispensable part of the team; and

Whereas, later she served in the records department at the Cayce Police Department, supporting critical operations with professional acumen, carefulness, and discretion, before she returned to city hall, as her leadership and institutional knowledge continued to grow. Ms. Corder served as administrative coordinator for the City Manager's Office; and

Whereas, in the role as administrative coordinator, Ms. Corder played a key role in the daily functions of city government and assumed responsibilities of municipal clerk, a position indispensable in maintaining transparency, compliance, and the effortless functioning of city council and municipal processes; and

Whereas, she brought to life the vision from the Mayors Institute for City Design for the award-winning Soiree on State and superintended other events. She managed public buildings, contributing behind the scenes to many of the programs, initiatives, meetings, and community events that residents and staff have enjoyed and come to depend on with sharp attention to detail, reliable guidance, and devotion to service; and

Whereas, Ms. Corder provided leadership and organizational skills to far more than Soiree on State: the Bluegrass Festival, Fall Fest, and appreciation dinners. She helped to develop the Cayce Art Lot and to create the Cayce Cool Down, offering leadership and assistance to ensure that each program would be successful. With these added activities, she faithfully maintained her responsibilities as municipal clerk and continued to care for the public buildings on campus; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives appreciate citizens who serve the cities of our State with distinction, like Mendy Corder, with years of distinguished service to City of Cayce, and they wish her many years of enjoyment in her well-earned retirement. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Mendy Corder, municipal clerk for the City of Cayce, as she retires after twenty-nine years of outstanding service and wish her much happiness in her well-deserved retirement.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mendy Corder.
