A house RESOLUTION

 

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR FLOYD SWEATT, PLS, UPON BEING NAMED 2026 SURVEYOR OF THE YEAR BY THE SOUTH CAROLINA SOCIETY OF PROFESSIONAL LAND SURVEYORS AND TO COMMEND HIM FOR HIS OUTSTANDING LEADERSHIP, TECHNICAL EXCELLENCE, AND DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE PROFESSION OF LAND SURVEYING IN SOUTH CAROLINA.

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to recognize individuals whose careers exemplify the highest standards of professional achievement and public service; and

 

Whereas, the South Carolina Society of Professional Land Surveyors (SCSPLS) has named Floyd Sweatt, PLS, as its 2026 Surveyor of the Year in acknowledgment of his distinguished career and enduring contributions to the surveying profession; and

 

Whereas, for nearly thirty years, Floyd Sweatt has served as a cornerstone of transportation surveying in this State, demonstrating unwavering leadership and technical expertise; and

 

Whereas, his professional efforts have encompassed complex boundary surveys and critical emergency response operations, including the devastating 2017 flooding in Nichols, South Carolina, during which his survey data played a pivotal role in guiding recovery and restoration efforts when they were needed most; and

 

Whereas, committed to lifelong learning and professional growth, Mr. Sweatt earned a bachelor's degree in survey and mapping from East Tennessee State University and presently is pursuing a master's degree in leadership at The Citadel; and

 

Whereas, throughout his career, Floyd Sweatt has exemplified integrity, ethical practice, and steadfast dedication, setting a standard of excellence that has earned the respect of colleagues and peers alike. Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

 

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Floyd Sweatt, PLS, upon being named 2026 Surveyor of the Year by the South Carolina Society of Professional Land Surveyors and commend him for his outstanding leadership, technical excellence, and dedicated service to the profession of land surveying in South Carolina.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Floyd Sweatt.
