A house RESOLUTION

 

TO CONGRATULATE AMBROSE "RICKY" WILSON JR. ON THE OCCASION OF HIS SEVENTIETH BIRTHDAY AND TO WISH HIM A JOYOUS BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION AND MANY YEARS OF CONTINUED HEALTH AND HAPPINESS.

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are delighted to learn that Ambrose "Ricky" Wilson Jr. will be honored at a seventieth birthday celebration on Saturday, March 28, 2026; and

 

Whereas, Mr. Wilson was born on March 25, 1956, in Georgetown to the late Ambrose Wilson Sr. and Helen G. Wilson. He was reared in a loving family with six siblings: the late Willie Mae Bryant, the late Priscilla Evans, Mary Helen, Debra, Undria, and Keddrick. He first learned carpentry and brick masonry skills alongside his father; and

 

Whereas, he attended J.B. Beck Elementary School and graduated from Howard High School in Georgetown. After high school, he continued his education at Denmark Technical College where he further developed carpentry and brick masonry skills, which would become the foundation of a lifetime of craftsmanship and service to others; and

 

Whereas, after graduating from Denmark Technical College, Mr. Wilson began a long and dedicated career with the Charleston County School District. He served at Lincoln High School for more than thirty-seven years until the school closed in 2016. During his time at Lincoln, he taught carpentry and coached both football and basketball, positively influencing and mentoring countless students along the way; and

 

Whereas, following the closing of Lincoln High School, he continued his work with Charleston County Schools as a maintenance supervisor and a teacher at Burke High School. In 2017, he transitioned to the Georgetown County School District, where he currently teaches carpentry at Georgetown High School, continuing to share his knowledge and passion with the next generation; and

 

Whereas, for more than forty years, Mr. Wilson has worked as a contractor known for his exceptional skill and craftsmanship. He has had a remarkable ability to build or repair almost anything; and

 

Whereas, he has faithfully served his church, Bethesda, for many years. He has been a trustee for more than twenty years and chairman of the trustee ministry and finance committee for more than ten years. He is always willing to go above and beyond wherever he is needed. It is his responsibility to ensure that the sanctuary is physically equipped for all services, funerals, and programs and that the fellowship hall and kitchen are in good standing for meetings, repast, and fellowship. He ushers whenever he is needed; and

 

Whereas, Mr. Wilson is an avid and successful gardener. He grows a variety of fresh vegetables every year such as tomatoes, corn, green beans and collard greens. Whatever produce he does not give to family and friends, he cans and freezes; and

 

Whereas, God has truly blessed Mr. Wilson, and the South Carolina House of Representatives is grateful for his dedication to his family, his community, his church, and the many lives he has impacted throughout the years. His legacy of hard work, service, and generosity continues to inspire all who know him. Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

 

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Ambrose "Ricky" Wilson Jr. on the occasion of his seventieth birthday and wish him a joyous birthday celebration and many years of continued health and happiness.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Ambrose "Ricky" Wilson Jr.
