A house RESOLUTION

 

to recognize and honor the Broome High School male strength team, coaches, and school officials for an outstanding season and to congratulate them on winning the 2026 south carolina class AAA state championship.

 

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that the Broome High School male strength team of Spartanburg County captured the Class AAA State Championship at Lexington High School on March 21, 2026; and

 

Whereas, in Broome's varsity division, senior Joseph Wakins, a two-year competitor, won the 160-pound class championship; senior Asher Littlejohn, a three-year competitor, won the 180-pound state championship; senior Levi Bishop, a two-year competitor, placed in the top ten in the 205-pound class; senior Chimar Hayes, a two-year competitor, placed in the top eight in the 220-pound class; and junior Brayden Simpson, a two-year competitor, placed in the top eight in the 160-pound class; and

 

Whereas, in the junior varsity division, sophomore Isaiah Young, a two-time competitor, won the 205-pound class championship; and  

 

Whereas, in Broome's varsity division, senior Asher Littlejohn and junior Braydon Simpson earned All-State honors, and in the junior varsity division, Isaiah Young was named an All-State wrestler; and

 

Whereas, in a sport that demands discipline, resilience and inner strength, coaches Chad Cooksey, and Spencer Dearybury have drawn upon their experience and training to build a championship team while instilling values that will benefit these athletes throughout their lives; and

 

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives appreciates the pride and recognition that the members of the Broome High School male strength team have brought to their school and community and looks forward to following their continued achievements in the years ahead. Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

 

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Broome High School male strength team, coaches, and school officials for an outstanding season and congratulate them on winning the 2026 South Carolina Class AAA State Championship. 

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Josh Fowler, Head Coach Dr. Chad Cooksey and Assistant Coach Spencer Dearybury.
