A house RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE SPARTANBURG WATER'S LANDRUM DRINKING WATER TREATMENT PLANT ON RECEIVING THE "BEST TASTING WATER" IN SOUTH CAROLINA AWARD AND TO COMMEND SPARTANBURG WATER FOR THE HIGH STANDARDS THAT PROVIDE SAFE, RELIABLE, AND, INDEED, EXCEPTIONAL WATER TO ITS CUSTOMERS.

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that Spartanburg Water's Landrum Drinking Water Treatment Plant was presented with the "Best Tasting Water" in South Carolina award at the annual South Carolina Environmental Conference, hosted in Myrtle Beach, March 15-18, 2026; and

Whereas, the Landrum plant competed against a large group of fourteen drinking water utilities from across South Carolina. The winner was selected in a blind taste test judged by water professionals from across the United States and Canada; and

Whereas, winning the "Best Tasting Water" honor speaks to the culture of excellence across Spartanburg Water's drinking-water team. From the operators who run the plant, to the laboratory staff members who verify quality, to the maintenance crews who keep equipment performing at its best, it takes a coordinated effort to deliver water of this standard; and

Whereas, the Landrum facility will accompany other first-place winners from both the United States and Canada to compete for overall best tasting water in North America at the 2026 American Water Works Association's ACE Conference, to be held in Washington, D.C.; and

Whereas, Spartanburg Water, an industry-winning utility, is composed of Spartanburg Water System and Spartanburg Sanitary Sewer District. It serves a population of nearly two hundred forty thousand within Spartanburg County, as well as others in parts of Greenville, Union, and Cherokee counties. With the help of its dedicated team of nearly three hundred employees, each day it produces an average of twenty-five million gallons of drinking water and cleans fourteen million gallons of wastewater for its customers and community. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Spartanburg Water's Landrum Drinking Water Treatment Plant on receiving the "Best Tasting Water" in South Carolina award and commend Spartanburg Water for the high standards that provide safe, reliable, and, indeed, exceptional water to its customers.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Guy Boyle, Spartanburg Water chief executive officer.
