A house RESOLUTION

 

TO HONOR THE W. Wyman KING ACADEMY FOOTBALL TEAM AND COACHES ON THEIR IMPRESSIVE WIN OF THE 2025 SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ASSOCIATION 8-MAN STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

 

Whereas, not to be denied the crown, the W. Wyman King Academy (WKA) football team drove past the Laurens Crusaders 50-36 to capture decisively the 2025 South Carolina Independent School Association 8-Man State Championship, held on Friday, November 21, 2025, at the Greenwood Christian School field; and

 

Whereas, the Knights, who nailed the state title for the second time in school history, brought the crown back to WKA for the first time since 2013, and they did it with style, finishing with their first-ever undefeated season (12-0). Moreover, in the title game, the Knights scored 568 points on offense and allowed only 222 points on defense; and

 

Whereas, it is also worthy of note that the Knights, who fully bought into Coach Dennis Gibson's excellent weightlifting program, never trailed in a game on the scoreboard; and

 

Whereas, such triumphs do not come overnight; they take determination and hard work. With proven consistency in both, WKA's Head Coach Brian Kneece and Assistant Coaches Dennis Gibson, Scout Buzhardt, Cody Burns, Michael Kinard, and Matt Buzhardt together built their football program into a championship machine and saw their players finish at the top of the mountain; and

 

Whereas, the W. Wyman King Knights have given their school and community reason to be proud of their accomplishments, and the members of the House of Representatives take great pleasure in adding their collective voice to the many encomiums flowing in to this outstanding group of young athletes. Go, Knights! Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

 

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, honor the W. Wyman King Academy football team and coaches on their impressive win of the 2025 South Carolina Independent School Association 8-Man State Championship.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Headmaster Zach Matthews and Head Coach Brian Kneece of W. Wyman King Academy.
