A house RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE North Central High School strength and weightlifting TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR A STELLAR SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM FOR WINNING THE 2026 SOUTH CAROLINA CLASS AA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that the members of the North Central High School strength and weightlifting team of Kershaw captured yet another state title at the competition held at Lexington High School on March 21, 2026; and

Whereas, to the delight of their exuberant fans, the North Central Iron Knights defeated a fine field of competitors to win their third consecutive state strength and weightlifting trophy. The North Central program has established a culture rooted in discipline, preparation, and relentless effort; and

Whereas, the 2026 championship performance was fueled by standout individual efforts across multiple divisions. Neddy Reyes delivered a strong showing in the 140-pound division, finishing fourth overall with a 340-pound squat, 255-pound bench press, and a 100-inch broad jump. His performance earned him All-State honors; and

Whereas, Kaelon Bradshaw offered one of the top performances of the entire meet, finishing second overall in the 180-pound division. He recorded an outstanding 405-pound squat, 240-pound bench press, and a 116-inch broad jump. His effort also earned him All-State recognition, joining his teammate among the state's best; and

Whereas, the Iron Knights' depth proved to be a key factor in securing the championship. Jaylen Wesley added valuable points with a seventh-place finish in the 150-pound division. Chris Cuellar followed with a strong fifth-place finish in the 170-pound division, while Zaimain Bennett contributed with a ninth-place finish in the 235-pound division; and

Whereas, the future looks bright for the North Central strength and weightlifting program as junior varsity team members Tek Boyd, Zion Reed, Camauri Kelley, and Tyler Sumpter qualified for the state meet, gaining valuable experience and continuing the tradition of excellence that defines the program; and

Whereas, in a sport that requires fortitude, strength, and individual excellence, Head Coach Ryan McDonnell and his dedicated coaching staff maximized their own athletic experience and passion to hone another championship team and teach these athletes life principles that will endure beyond the mats; and

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives values the pride and recognition that the North Central strength and weightlifting athletes have brought to their school and their community, and the members look forward to hearing of their continued accomplishments in the days to come. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the North Central High School strength and weightlifting team, coaches, and school officials for a stellar season and congratulate them for winning the 2026 South Carolina Class AA State Championship title.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal David Branham and Coach Ryan McDonnell.
