A house RESOLUTION

 

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR Dr. Christie Palladino, a teacher at Aiken County's Career and Technology Center where she leads the biomedical science program, AND TO CONGRATULATE HER FOR BEING NAMED THE 2027 South Carolina TEACHER OF THE YEAR.

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to learn that Dr. Christie Palladino has been named the 2027 Teacher of the Year during the South Carolina Teacher of the Year celebration held on the grounds of the Governor's Mansion in Columbia; and

 

Whereas, intended to showcase outstanding professional educators who exemplify the ideals of the educational profession and whose efforts and example have inspired others, the South Carolina Teacher of the Year Program recognizes one teacher every year who demonstrates exemplary leadership and excellence in teaching; and

 

Whereas, having taught for twelve years, Dr. Palladino previously spent years caring for patients as an obstetrician gynecologist and conducting research on health-science education. She leads Aiken County's Career and Technology Center biomedical science program, created the innovative Biommersive Capstone Course, and has authored over a hundred peer-reviewed presentations and publications; and

 

Whereas, Dr. Palladino, a gifted physician and researcher, chose to change careers to invest her experience and talents in South Carolina students, shaping both their academic success and their sense of purpose in order to prepare the next generation of medical professionals and ensure her students graduate ready for college or careers; and

 

Whereas, as part of the award, Dr. Palladino will receive twenty-five thousand dollars, a new BMW to use for one year, and a degree at no cost, and she will participate in the prestigious Leadership South Carolina program. She will serve as a statewide ambassador for South Carolina's more than sixty-five thousand teachers, mentoring and inspiring current and future educators while championing the impact of classroom leaders across the Palmetto State; and

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives value the work of dedicated educators in the Palmetto State, who devote themselves to our youth by helping them to prepare to become productive citizens, especially teachers, like Dr. Christie Palladino, whose outstanding service has been honored by the State and by her fellow teachers. Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

 

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Dr. Christie Palladino, a teacher at Aiken County's Career and Technology Center where she leads the biomedical science program, and congratulate her for being named the 2027 South Carolina Teacher of the Year.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Christie Palladino.
