A house RESOLUTION

 

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE DORCHESTER ACADEMY JUNIOR VARSITY CHEER SQUAD, ITS COACH, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR A SUPERB SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM ON WINNING THE 2025 SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ASSOCIATION JV GAME DAY STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE FOR THE CLASS 1A/2A DIVISION.

 

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that the members of the Dorchester Academy junior varsity cheer squad captured the South Carolina Independent School Association Class 1A/2A State Championship at the JV Game Day competition, held at Heathwood Hall in Columbia on Saturday, November 8, 2025; and

 

Whereas, thrilled to see the Lady Raiders outshine a fine field of comers, Dorchester Academy fans watched their team rack up a score of 268.5, a feat that bested nearest competitor Carolina Academy and landed the state crown for Dorchester, along with hardware only champions get to take home; and

 

Whereas, with the biggest prize in South Carolina high school JV cheerleading on the line, the Lady Raiders focused all their knowledge, skill, and determination, took to heart their coach's exhortations, and came through like the champions they are; and

 

Whereas, in a sport that requires precision and grace, Coach Juliann Zeigler capitalized on her own athletic experience and passion to build a championship team and teach these athletes life principles that will endure beyond the mats. It was a satisfying conclusion to Coach Zeigler's first year as a competition cheer coach; and

 

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives appreciates the delight and admiration that the Dorchester Academy JV cheer team has brought to its school and community, and the members look forward to following the team's accomplishments in the future. Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

 

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Dorchester Academy junior varsity cheer squad, its coach, and school officials for a superb season and congratulate them on winning the 2025 South Carolina Independent School Association JV Game Day State Championship title for the Class 1A/2A Division.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Head of School Heather Judy and Coach Juliann Zeigler of Dorchester Academy.
