A concurrent RESOLUTION

TO REQUEST THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION NAME the portion of River Road (state road S-40) from the intersection of Pine Street (S-21-312) to the intersection of Shirley Road (S-21-1114) IN Florence COUNTY "Billy Eaddy Road" AND ERECT APPROPRIATE MARKERS OR SIGNS AT THIS LOCATION CONTAINING THE DESIGNATION.

Whereas, Mr. Lucious "Billy" Eaddy faithfully served the town of Pamplico as a town council member from 1976 until his passing in 2020. He was one of the two first Black officials for the town of Pamplico; and

Whereas, Mr. Eaddy's family business was located on River Road in Pamplico, and many local citizens refer to this stretch of road as Billy Eaddy Road; and

Whereas, it would be only fitting and proper to pay tribute to this son of South Carolina by naming a portion of road in the State in his honor. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, request that the Department of Transportation name the portion of River Road (State Road S-40) from the intersection of Pine Street (S-21-312) to the intersection of Shirley Road (S-21-1114) in Florence County "Billy Eaddy Road" and erect appropriate markers or signs at this location containing the designation.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Department of Transportation and presented to the family of Lucious "Billy" Eaddy.
