A house RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE Eunice Gilbert OF Fairfield COUNTY ON THE OCCASION OF HER ONE HUNDREDTH BIRTHDAY AND TO WISH HER A JOYOUS BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION AND MANY YEARS OF CONTINUED HEALTH AND HAPPINESS.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are delighted to learn that Eunice Gilbert of Fairfield County will celebrate her one hundredth birthday on September 30, 2026; and
Whereas, born on September 30, 1926, in the first quarter of the twentieth century, she has witnessed the many remarkable social changes, technological advancements, and international developments that have spanned the globe from that time into the first quarter of the twenty-first century; and
Whereas, the oldest of three children, Mrs. Gilbert was born in Fairfield County and is the daughter of the late Pauline and Sam Davis. She attended Fairfield County public schools, and she was reared in a loving home with siblings, the late Ida Mae Anderson and the late Sara V. Davis; and
Whereas, in 1951, she and her beloved husband, the late Joe Gilbert, were married, and together they reared seven fine children: Patsy Eaddy, Gwendolyn Gibson II, Clarence Gilbert, Betty Milton, Morris Gilbert, Bobby Gilbert, and Vickie Moody. In spite of having a large household, Mrs. Gilbert helped her sister-in-law, Maggie Wilson, to rear her three children: Marsh Simon, Beverly Mozie, and Herman Wilson; and
Whereas Mrs. Gilbert's children have blessed her with the affection of sixteen grandchildren: Andre' Eaddy, Derran Eaddy, Jaison Gibson III, Jovaugh Gilbert, Latisha Eaddy, Tangee Ritter, Jarvis Gibson, Travis Gilbert, Nicole Milton, Myron Gilbert, Takisha Martin, Christopher Gilbert, Ashli Bethea, Brandon Moody, Joseph Gilbert, and Erin Gilbert. She has had the privilege of seeing her family legacy continue in the lives of twenty-two great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren: Jaison Gibson IV, Justin Gibson, Jeneva Gibson, Nakeya Lockett, Maliyah Lockett, Brandon Lockett, Tianna Stone, Mike Ritter Jr., Torran Stone, Peyton Ritter, Jana Gibson, D'Angelo Gilbert, AJ Scarborough, Leland Gilbert, Ryan Martin, Miles Martin, Christal Bethea, Kia Bethea, Madeline Gilbert, Christopher Gilbert Jr., Carter Moody, and Josiah Moore, as well as Melanie Lockett, Kayson Lockett, and Kamaree Gilbert; and
Whereas, Mrs. Gilbert graduated from Fairfield County Adult Education Program in 1972 and retired after years of employment with Clemson Extension Service, Fairfield Manufacturing Company, and JPM Corporation; and
Whereas, a faithful and longtime member of St. Mark Baptist Church in Ridgeway, she served the congregation until her health declined as a deaconess and in the Jubilee Choir, Women's Auxiliary, Bible study, and Sunday school. Even during her illness, whenever she was able, she attended Sunday services, revivals, and Family and Friends Day and supported many other church auxiliaries; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to honor this daughter of South Carolina at the celebration of her one hundredth birthday and join with her family and friends in congratulating her on reaching this extraordinary milestone. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Eunice Gilbert of Fairfield County on the occasion of her one hundredth birthday and wish her a joyous birthday celebration and many years of continued health and happiness.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Eunice Gilbert.
