A house RESOLUTION

 

To congratulate Mary Long Anderson on the momentous occasion of her eighty-fifth birthday and to wish her a joyous birthday celebration and many years of continued health and happiness.

 

Whereas, Mary Long Anderson was born on May 11, 1941, in Comer, Georgia, to Hoyt and Mary Lizzie Long. She was reared alongside her siblings Nelson Larry Long and James Leroy Long; and

 

Whereas, she attended Southside High School, where she was active in basketball, track and field, and baseball. She then went on to attend Fort Valley State University, in Fort Valley, Georgia, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education with a minor in health; and

 

Whereas, upon her college graduation, she started teaching physical education in Perry, Georgia and then later taught in Goldsboro, North Carolina. In 1970, she started as a recreation specialist at Fort Jackson, later becoming a test proctor until 2015; and

 

Whereas, Mrs. Anderson is the proud mother of Rhonda D. Anderson and Hoyt F. Anderson. She is a grandmother to three lovely grandchildren, Sha 'Toni Williams, Jade Olivia Anderson, and Hoyt E. Anderson, and a great-grandmother to two wonderful great-grandchildren, Omari Earle Green and Jayiden Langston Anderson; and

 

Whereas, her good and godly example has been plainly visible in her many years of faithful dedication to the Church. She was a member of Springfield Baptist Church and Holly Creek Baptist Church while living in Georgia, and she is currently a member of Zion Canaan Baptist Church in Columbia. She loves singing in the Senior Musical Choir, as well as being a member of the Missionary Circle number 4, and the women's Sunday school class. She graciously volunteers her time to help with the church's childrens nursery and clothes closet; and

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to honor this daughter of South Carolina at the celebration of her eighty-fifth birthday and join with her family and friends in congratulating her on reaching this extraordinary milestone. Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

 

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Mary Long Anderson on the momentous occasion of her eighty-fifth birthday and wish her a joyous birthday celebration and many years of continued health and happiness.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mary Long Anderson.
