A senate RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND THANK LANIESHA WILLIAMS-FLOOD FOR IMPLEMENTING THE Like A Boss Mentoring Program at Sangaree Middle School in Ladson.
Whereas, the South Carolina Senate is pleased and grateful to learn that Laniesha Williams-Flood has implemented the Like a Boss Mentoring program at Sangaree Middle School in Ladson; and
Whereas, the Like A Boss Mentoring program is a transformative initiative aimed at empowering middle school students by providing essential support in navigating social, academic, and familial challenges. Designed specifically for students ages twelve through sixteen, this school-based program fosters a nurturing environment where young adolescents can thrive both personally and academically; and
Whereas, through the Like A Boss Mentoring program, students engage in reflective weekly journaling. Each week, they document their experiences, articulate the challenges they face, and establish actionable goals for the upcoming week. This practice not only enhances self-awareness but also promotes personal growth; and
Whereas, to further support emotional well-being, the program provides access to mental health resources as needed. Group sessions incorporate research-based techniques that empower students to develop healthy coping mechanisms. Participants learn valuable stress-management strategies; and
Whereas, in conjunction with the mentoring program, the Questions From A Middle Schooler initiative serves as a vital resource for students seeking answers to pressing life questions. A confidential form is provided, allowing students to submit inquiries about a wide range of topics from academic pressures to mental health concerns; and
Whereas, the Like A Boss Mentoring program and the Questions From A Middle Schooler initiative represent a commitment to the holistic development of South Carolina's middle school students. By addressing their social, academic, and emotional needs, educators empower these students to navigate the complexities of adolescence with confidence and resilience. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, recognize and thank Laniesha Williams-Flood for implementing the Like a Boss Mentoring program at Sangaree Middle School in Ladson.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Laniesha Williams-Flood.
