A concurrent RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE THE SOUTH CAROLINA INSTITUTE OF MEDICINE AND PUBLIC HEALTH ON THE OCCASION OF ITS FIFTEENTH ANNIVERSARY, COMMEND THE ORGANIZATION FOR ITS COMMITMENT AND SERVICE TO THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA, AND EXTEND BEST WISHES FOR CONTINUED SUCCESS IN THE YEARS AHEAD.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly are proud to recognize the South Carolina Institute of Medicine and Public Health for fifteen years of service and dedication to health policy; and
Whereas, the South Carolina Institute of Medicine and Public Health was established on August 2, 2011, to serve as an informed, neutral, nonpartisan convener around the important health issues in our State; and
Whereas, the mission of the South Carolina Institute of Medicine and Public Health is to inform policy to improve health and healthcare; and
Whereas, the institute has provided the Health Policy Fellows Program to more than eighty South Carolina legislators and shared clear, evidence-based health policy information in a nonpartisan manner; and
Whereas, the institute has convened South Carolina experts and stakeholders to produce policy recommendations informing behavioral health, long-term care, the healthcare workforce, care of the aging and disabled, and maternal and infant health; and
Whereas, the institute regularly continues to publish policy and data briefs, analyses, and reports based on in-depth research on important health issues, including "South Carolina's Guide to Approved Uses to Investing Opioid Settlement Funds," "Cancer Mortality in African American Men in South Carolina," and "Improving Maternal and Infant Health: Increasing Access to Care in Rural South Carolina," resulting in policy recommendations that have informed South Carolina policy; and
Whereas, grateful for the efforts rendered by the South Carolina Institute of Medicine and Public Health to our State, the members of the General Assembly take great pleasure in saluting the institute's board of directors and staff on reaching the important milestone of fifteen years of service. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate the South Carolina Institute of Medicine and Public Health on the occasion of its fifteenth anniversary, commend the organization for its commitment and service to the State of South Carolina, and extend best wishes for continued success in the years ahead.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the South Carolina Institute of Medicine and Public Health.
