Summary: Property tax exemptions
    A BILL TO AMEND SECTION 12-37-220, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTIONS, SO AS TO PROVIDE AN EXEMPTION SUFFICIENT TO KEEP THE PROPERTY TAX VALUE OF A HOMESTEAD FROM INCREASING ONCE THE OWNER ATTAINS THE AGE OF SEVENTY YEARS, TO PROVIDE AN ADDITIONAL TWENTY-FIVE PERCENT EXEMPTION WHEN A PERSON ATTAINS THE AGE OF SEVENTY-FIVE YEARS AND TO INCREASE THE EXEMPTION BY AN ADDITIONAL TWENTY-FIVE PERCENT EVERY FIVE YEARS THEREAFTER, AND TO SPECIFY THE APPLICABILITY OF THE EXEMPTION; AND BY ADDING SECTION 12-45-82 SO AS TO PROHIBIT A TAX EXECUTION ON THE HOMESTEAD OF AN INDIVIDUAL THAT HAS ATTAINED THE AGE OF EIGHTY YEARS.
