    A BILL TO AMEND SECTION 12-37-250, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE HOMESTEAD PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTION FOR PERSONS OVER AGE SIXTY-FIVE OR DISABLED PERSONS, SO AS TO INCREASE THE AMOUNT OF FAIR MARKET VALUE EXEMPTED FROM TWENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS TO FORTY THOUSAND DOLLARS, TO PROVIDE FOR AN ANNUAL ADJUSTMENT OF THE EXEMPTION AMOUNT TO REFLECT INCREASES IN THE COST OF LIVING AS MEASURED BY THE CONSUMER PRICE INDEX, AND TO DELETE OBSOLETE PROVISIONS.
