    A Bill to amend Section 40-19-10, as amended, Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, relating to definitions in regard to embalmers and funeral directors, so as to provide that the definition of "practice of funeral service" shall exclude cremation and to delete certain other references to cremation; to amend Section 40-19-20, as amended, relating to the South Carolina State Board of Funeral Service, so as to reconstitute the membership of the Board; to amend Section 40-19-80, as amended, relating to this Board, so as to delete the authority of the Board to employ independent counsel with the approval of the Attorney General; to amend Section 40-19-100, as amended, relating to the requirements and criteria for being licensed as an embalmer or funeral director, so as to revise these criteria; to amend Section 40-19-120, as amended, relating to apprentice funeral directors and embalmers, so as to revise the requirements for an apprentice receiving a license for the practice of funeral service; to amend Section 40-19-130, as amended, relating to the operation of funeral establishments, so as to delete certain references to crematories; to amend Section 40-19-160, as amended, relating to investigations by the Board of Funeral Service, so as to authorize panels of the Board to conduct these investigations; and to repeal Section 40-19-230 relating to the requirement that no funeral home may be licensed to do business unless it has space for off-street parking for at least twelve automobiles.
