A CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION
TO EXPRESS THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF
THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE FAMILY OF T. BARNEY
SMITH OF ANDERSON UPON HIS DEATH.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were deeply saddened
to learn of the death of T. Barney Smith of Anderson on December 17,
1993; and
Whereas, he was a native of Mountville, a graduate of the University of
South Carolina, and prior to his retirement, he was associated with the
Palmetto Insurance Agency; and
Whereas, in addition to his successful business career, Mr. Smith served
his city and county in many capacities including service as a member of
the Anderson City Council, Anderson Rotary Club, Anderson Elks
Lodge, and was also a long-time member of St. John's United Methodist
Church; and
Whereas, with the death of this fine man, the people of Anderson have
lost a respected business and civic leader and a good friend; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution,
would like to extend their sincere condolences to his son, daughter, and
other members of his family in this time of sorrow. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly express their deepest
sympathy to the family of T. Barney Smith of Anderson upon his death.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to his
son, Thomas B. Smith, Jr., of Anderson, and his daughter, Margie Sippel
of Rock Hill.
