A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
TO HONOR THE MOMENTOUS CELEBRATION OF RICHLAND COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT ONE'S ARTS FESTIVAL TO BE HELD ON WEDNESDAY, APRIL 10, 2002.
Whereas, Richland County School District One will be holding its Arts Festival: Journey Through Imagination, at the Carolina Coliseum on Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at 7:00 p.m.; and
Whereas, this performance is offered gratis to the general public and parents of the students and will feature nearly a thousand students from visual arts, chorus, orchestra, band, dance, and theater, as well as providing a multi-media artist; and
Whereas, student actors, with help from special guests, will tell the story of the artistic journey, the creative process of making art, and the many challenges and joys of traveling the path of an artist; and
Whereas, also participating is nationally known author and illustrator of over 30 children's books, Remy Charlip. Mr. Charlip is the featured author for the 2002 Richland County Public Library's Storytelling Festival, A(ugusta) Baker's Dozen; and
Whereas, the world premier of a musical composition will provide the finale for the Festival, written by Richland County School District One's own, Dr. Cedric Adderely. Dr. Adderely is a graduate of Richland One and currently is a professor at Claflin University in Orangeburg. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, honor the momentous celebration of Richland School District One's Arts Festival to be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2002.
Be it further resolved that copies of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Ronald L. Epps, Superintendent of Richland County School District One, and to Nancy Pope, Coordinator for the Visual and Performing Arts of Richland County School District One.
