A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE JASON FULMER, THIRD GRADE TEACHER AT REDCLIFFE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN AIKEN COUNTY, UPON HIS BEING NAMED SOUTH CAROLINA TEACHER OF THE YEAR FOR 2003.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are very pleased to learn that Jason Fulmer, a third grade teacher at Redcliffe Elementary School in Aiken County, has been named South Carolina Teacher of the Year for 2003; and

Whereas, Jason Fulmer is finishing his fourth year at Redcliffe Elementary School and has a true love for children and an excitement for learning. One example of his enthusiasm involves the innovative use of music in the classroom to enhance the children's interest and understanding; and

Whereas, he is only the sixth male in South Carolina history and the first male in seventeen years to be selected as state Teacher of the Year. As Teacher of the Year, he will take a one-year sabbatical from the classroom to represent and promote education in South Carolina in the interest of teachers and students; and

Whereas, Jason is a graduate of Midland Valley High School and while a college student at University of South Carolina-Aiken demonstrated his commitment to high achievement, service to others, and a value system which he holds to this day; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and congratulate this outstanding educator upon his selection for this truly deserved award and extend to him best wishes for a happy and productive year representing South Carolina's forty-seven thousand teachers. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly hereby congratulate Jason Fulmer, third grade teacher at Redcliffe Elementary School in Aiken County, upon his being named South Carolina Teacher of the Year for 2003.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Jason Fulmer.
