 OF THE CORINTH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN GAFFNEY FOR HER WONDERFUL LEADERSHIP OF
 THIS OUTSTANDING SCHOOL SINCE 2000 AS SHE LEAVES CORINTH TO BECOME PRINCIPAL
 OF WESTVIEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN SPARTANBURG COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT 6.

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND DR. ANGELA LYON HINTON, PRINCIPAL OF THE CORINTH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN GAFFNEY FOR HER WONDERFUL LEADERSHIP OF THIS OUTSTANDING SCHOOL SINCE 2000 AS SHE LEAVES CORINTH TO BECOME PRINCIPAL OF WESTVIEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN SPARTANBURG COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT 6.

Whereas, Dr. Angela Lyon Hinton has been principal of Corinth Elementary School in Gaffney since 2000; and

Whereas, under the leadership of this capable school administrator, Corinth has become one of the most outstanding elementary schools in South Carolina; and

Whereas, among other awards Corinth Elementary School was named South Carolina Exemplary Reading School State Winner, 2004; South Carolina Red Carpet School, 2003; National School of Promise Flagship School, 2002; and South Carolina Exemplary Writing School, 2002; and

Whereas, Angela Hinton received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education from Western Carolina University and a Master of Education Degree in Elementary Education and Doctor of Education Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of South Carolina; and

Whereas, prior to becoming principal of Corinth Elementary School, Dr. Hinton served as a master teacher with the State Department of Education, and as guidance counselor, kindergarten, and elementary school teacher in the Cherokee County school district; and

Whereas, she is a highly regarded speaker and author whose participation is widely sought in professional development seminars throughout South Carolina; and

Whereas, in addition to her work with Corinth Elementary School, she is also a civic and community leader in Gaffney and Cherokee County. She is a member of the choir and Sunday school facilitator at the First Baptist Church in Gaffney and has contributed countless hours of community service through her work with the American Red Cross, American Cancer Society, and numerous school service projects; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and thank this outstanding educator for her leadership of Corinth Elementary School as her tenure with Corinth comes to a close. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives recognize and commend Dr. Angela Lyon Hinton, Principal of the Corinth Elementary School in Gaffney for her wonderful leadership of this outstanding school since 2000 as she leaves Corinth Elementary School to become Principal of Westview Elementary School in Spartanburg County School District 6.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Hinton.
