TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE PreviousDEATHNext OF RALSTON E. SMITH OF TURBEVILLE ON FRIDAY, MARCH 7, 2003, AND TO CONVEY DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives were deeply saddened by the PreviousdeathNext of Ralston E. Smith of Turbeville on March 7, 2003, at the age of thirty-eight; and

Whereas, Mr. Smith was born and raised in Sumter County, the son of Charlie Dorn Smith, Jr., and Eleanor Green Smith; and

Whereas, a graduate of the University of South Carolina, Mr. Smith was a successful farmer and owner of Burnt Branch Farms in Sumter County; and

Whereas, Mr. Smith served as chairman of the board of directors for The Citizens Bank, and he was a faithful member of the Pine Grove United Methodist Church; and

Whereas, he was a highly respected community and business leader who will be greatly missed; and

Whereas, the House of Representatives extends its sympathy to the family and friends of Ralston E. Smith. He is survived by his wife, Stacey Michelle Green Smith; his daughter, Anna Creighton Smith; his mother, Eleanor Green Smith; his sister, Dixie Eleanor Bullock; and three brothers, Dr. Charlie Dorn Smith III, Andrew Bethea Smith, and Dr. Sidney Green Smith. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the Previousdeath of Ralston E. Smith of Turbeville on Friday, March 7, 2003, and convey their deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Ralston E. Smith of Turbeville.
