 F. CLARK III OF COLUMBIA FOR HIS UNTIRING, DEDICATED, AND ENTHUSIASTIC SERVICE
 AS A TRUSTEE FOR THE COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON.

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO HONOR AND TO EXPRESS SINCERE GRATITUDE TO DR. JOHN F. CLARK III OF COLUMBIA FOR HIS UNTIRING, DEDICATED, AND ENTHUSIASTIC SERVICE AS A TRUSTEE FOR THE COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON.

Whereas, Dr. John F. Clark has been a devoted member of the Board of Trustees for the College of Charleston since 1990; and

Whereas, Dr. Clark is a native of Kingstree and a graduate of Davidson College. He received a Ph. D. from Syracuse University and has also studied at the University of Paris and the University of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; and

Whereas, as a member of the Board of Trustees at the College of Charleston, Dr. John Clark serves on the long range plan coordinating committee and the academic affairs committee; and

Whereas, during his twelve years on the board, he has seen and helped the College of Charleston change and grow into a larger and stronger academic institution; and

Whereas, Dr. Clark is currently Deputy Chief of Staff for Governor Jim Hodges and previously served as energy advisor to Governor Dick Riley and Governor Hodges; and

Whereas, he was the Executive Director of the South Carolina Energy Office, Director of Research for the Joint Legislative Committee on Energy, and Executive Director of Public Affairs for Santee Cooper, South Carolina's state-owned electric and water utility; and

Whereas, Dr. Clark also served in the United States Army as a Foreign Liaison Officer, worked in the United States House of Representatives, and taught political science at the University of Florida and the University of South Carolina; and

Whereas, Dr. Clark is active in the State as a graduate of Leadership South Carolina, member of the Executive Committee of the South Carolina Sierra Club, and past chairman of the Greater Columbia Community Relations Council. He is the author of Hiking South Carolina and Scenic Driving South Carolina; and

Whereas, for his generous service, Dr. Clark has received many awards including the Army Commendation Medal, the Order of the Palmetto from Governor Riley, and the 1998 Distinguished Service Award by the South Carolina Sierra Club; and

Whereas, the General Assembly is pleased to extol Dr. John F. Clark III for his support and dedication to the College of Charleston and the State of South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, honor and express sincere gratitude to Dr. John F. Clark III of Columbia for his untiring, dedicated, and enthusiastic service as a trustee for the College of Charleston.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. John F. Clark III.
