A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND MR. BILLY G. BAKER OF BERKELY COUNTY FOR HIS OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS AS EDITOR AND PUBLISHER OF HIGH SCHOOL PreviousSPORTSNext REPORT.

Whereas, Mr. Billy G. Baker is a 1977 graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Journalism; and

Whereas, while enrolled as a student at the University of South Carolina, he served as PreviousSportsNext Editor of both the student newspaper and yearbook, and covered high school football for The State newspaper; and

Whereas, in 1987, Mr. Baker fulfilled his dream of establishing a statewide publication that promotes and publicizes the achievements of high school athletes and coaches throughout South Carolina, when he became editor and publisher of High School PreviousSportsNext Report; and

Whereas, High School PreviousSportsNext Report, the only publication devoted exclusively to the coverage of high school athletics, has grown tremendously, and is well respected throughout the athletics community; and

Whereas, under Mr. Baker's leadership, the publication has sponsored statewide recognition banquets for the PrevioussportsNext of football, basketball, soccer, and baseball, and honors "Players and Coaches of the Year" in all PrevioussportsNext; and

Whereas, the High School PreviousSportsNext Report has gained the respect of over one hundred major colleges and universities that include Clemson University, the University of South Carolina, Notre Dame University, Pennsylvania State University, Auburn University, and the University of Florida; and

Whereas, Mr. Baker and his staff are major contributors to articles that appear in numerous newspapers and national publications. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognizes and commends Mr. Billy G. Baker of Berkely County for his outstanding contributions to high school athletics as editor and publisher of High School PreviousSports Report.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Billy G. Baker.
