AN ACT TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH
CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 33-56-55 SO AS TO
PROVIDE THAT THE PROVISIONS OF THE SOLICITATION OF
CHARITABLE FUNDS ACT DO NOT APPLY TO
PARENT-TEACHER ASSOCIATIONS AFFILIATED WITH ANY
SCHOOL OR TO LOCAL CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE IF NONE OF
THEIR FUND-RAISING ACTIVITIES ARE CARRIED ON BY
PROFESSIONAL SOLICITORS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
PTA's and local chambers exempt
SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 33-56-55. The provisions of this chapter do not apply
to parent-teacher associations affiliated with any school or to local
chambers of commerce. No reporting of any fund-raising activities or
other reporting under this chapter is required of parent-teacher
associations or local chambers of commerce whether or not they would
be considered exempt organizations under Section 33-56-50, provided
that none of the fund-raising activities are carried on by professional
solicitors."
Time effective
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
