AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 6-11-91, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO COMPENSATION FOR THE GOVERNING BODY OF A SPECIAL PURPOSE OR PUBLIC SERVICE DISTRICT, SO AS TO DELETE THE LIMITATION ON INSURANCE BENEFITS FOR SUCH MEMBERS AND TO AUTHORIZE THE PAYMENT OF SUBSISTENCE EXPENSES EQUAL TO THE LESSER OF ACTUAL OUT-OF-POCKET EXPENSES INCURRED OR ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS A DAY.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Expenses

SECTION 1. Section 6-11-91 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"Section 6-11-91. The governing body of a public service district or special purpose district by resolution or ordinance may fix or change the compensation or other benefits including insurance benefits for the members of the district governing body subject to the following limitations:

(1) mileage may not exceed that allowed by law for members of state boards, committees, and commissions;

(2) subsistence may not exceed either actual out-of-pocket expenses or one hundred dollars a day whichever amount is the lesser; and

(3) per diem may not exceed thirty-five dollars a day."

Time effective

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
