 COUNTY, FOR HIS DEDICATED AND DISTINGUISHED LEADERSHIP OF THE DISTRICT.

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING APPRECIATION AND EXTENDING BEST WISHES TO DR. THOMAS M. FAULKENBERRY, SUPERINTENDENT OF THE SCHOOL DISTRICT OF NEWBERRY COUNTY, FOR HIS DEDICATED AND DISTINGUISHED LEADERSHIP OF THE DISTRICT.

Whereas, Thomas M. Faulkenberry has served with dedication and distinction as superintendent of the School District of Newberry County since being appointed in January, 1998; and

Whereas, Dr. Faulkenberry has served the public schools of South Carolina as a teacher, coach, guidance counselor, elementary school administrator, high school administrator, assistant superintendent, and school district superintendent; and

Whereas, under his capable leadership, the new Newberry Middle School with its impressive campus became operational; and

Whereas, under his guidance the Newberry County School District, manifesting a steadfast commitment to upgrading SAT scores, completed the implementation of the SAT Score Performance Improvement Program in all of its middle and high schools; and

Whereas, Dr. Faulkenberry, originally from Abbeville, graduated from Heath Springs High School in Lancaster County in 1965, and from Erskine College with a B.S. in 1969, received a M.Ed. from Francis Marion UniversityNext in 1975, and a Ph.D. from the PreviousUniversity of South Carolina in 1996; and

Whereas, during his career, he has served in the public schools of Laurens County, Dillon County, York County, and Newberry County, a career which has brought honor and credit to the public school system of South Carolina; and

Whereas, Dr. Faulkenberry has accepted a new position with York County School District Two and will be leaving Newberry County at the end of June; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and thank this outstanding educator for the contributions he has made to the Newberry County School District. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly hereby commend Dr. Thomas M. Faulkenberry for his dedicated and distinguished leadership of the Newberry County School District as its Superintendent and extend to him best wishes for continued success.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Thomas M. Faulkenberry.
