 HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE PRACTICE OF LAW IN AIKEN FOR OVER FORTY YEARS, AND
 RECOGNIZING HIM FOR HIS CONTRIBUTIONS TO HIS COMMUNITY AND HIS UNTIRING
 EXEMPLARY SERVICE TO OTHERS.

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

SALUTING JOHN TRAVIS BODENHEIMER OF AIKEN COUNTY UPON HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE PRACTICE OF LAW IN AIKEN FOR OVER FORTY YEARS, AND RECOGNIZING HIM FOR HIS CONTRIBUTIONS TO HIS COMMUNITY AND HIS UNTIRING EXEMPLARY SERVICE TO OTHERS.

Whereas, John Travis Bodenheimer of Aiken County is retiring from the private practice of law on February 28, 2002, after having practiced and served the people of Aiken for forty years; and

Whereas, Mr. Bodenheimer has been a respected and distinguished member of the South Carolina Bar for forty-three years; and

Whereas, he graduated from the UniversityNext of South Carolina in 1954 and from the PreviousUniversity of South Carolina School of Law in 1959; and

Whereas, he served in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1956 as First Lieutenant and also served in the United States Air Force Reserves as Judge Advocate General's officer and Captain; and

Whereas, he served as interim Family Court Judge, president of the local bar, and member of the South Carolina Bar's House of Delegates; he served on the South Carolina Board of Commissioners for Grievances and Discipline, as Chairman of the Judicial Qualifications Committee for South Carolina, and on numerous committees in the South Carolina Bar and local bar; and

Whereas, Mr. Bodenheimer is a thirty-six year member of the Rotary Club, having served as president and on various committees; he is a thirty-two year member of the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army, having served as board chairman for three years; he is a twenty-two year member of the Aiken Businessmen's Club, a forty-year member of First Presbyterian Church of Aiken, where he has served as trustee and deacon, and a member of the Ethics Committee for the Aiken Regional Medical Centers; and

Whereas, upon retirement, he plans to continue to serve his community, particularly in areas where he may apply his more than forty years of experience and talents in the legal profession; and

Whereas, he has been a remarkable and valued public servant for many decades and is greatly deserving of recognition and commendation. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, salutes John Travis Bodenheimer of Aiken County upon his retirement from the practice of law in Aiken for over forty years and specially recognizes him for his contributions to his community and his untiring exemplary service to others.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. John Travis Bodenheimer.
