A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TO THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF DR. THOMAS H. BYRD III OF CARY, NORTH CAROLINA, WHO DIED ON MONDAY, MAY 27, 2002.

Whereas, Dr. Thomas H. Byrd III was born in Salem, Oregon, on September 8, 1926, the son of Thomas H. Byrd, Jr. and Frances Davis Byrd; and

Whereas, after an Honorable Discharge for his service in the military, Dr. Byrd graduated from Indiana UniversityNext and taught dentistry at the PreviousUniversity of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; and

Whereas, Dr. Byrd went on to practice dentistry in Raleigh for thirty-seven years, always exhibiting the very best in professionalism and genuine concern for his patients and peers alike; and

Whereas, Dr. Byrd was a member of the North Carolina Dental Society, the Raleigh Investors Club, the American Business Club, and MacGregor Downs Country Club. He was also a devoted member of White Plains Methodist Church in Cary; and

Whereas, as in North Carolina, Dr. Byrd had many friends in South Carolina. His memory is one of selfless dedication to his family, friends, and patients, and always having a cheerful attitude and wonderful sense of humor; and

Whereas, Dr. Byrd was predeceased by his beloved parents and an infant son. He is survived by his wife, Joyce W. Byrd, his sister, Evelyn Rosebrock; his son, Thomas H. Byrd IV, Melba Dean Byrd, and three beautiful grandchildren; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are truly saddened to learn of the death of this fine gentleman who devoted a lifetime to unselfishly teaching and serving others. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, express their deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Dr. Thomas H. Byrd III of Cary, North Carolina, who died on Monday, May 27, 2002.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Joyce W. Byrd of Cary, North Carolina.
