A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO HONOR AND RECOGNIZE LEIGH AMMONS MEESE OF MYRTLE BEACH FOR HER OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO HER CAREER AND COMMUNITY AND CONGRATULATE HER FOR RECEIVING A MARY DEAN BREWER WOMAN OF ACHIEVEMENT AWARD ON MARCH 9, 2006.

Whereas, it is with great pride that the South Carolina Senate recognizes those individuals who give tirelessly of themselves in furtherance of their communities; and

Whereas, a Myrtle Beach native, Leigh Meese graduated as valedictorian from Socastee High School and went on to Duke UniversityNext on a Duke Leadership Scholarship and then to the PreviousUniversity of South Carolina School of Law; and

Whereas, Mrs. Meese celebrates a loving marriage to David Meese and adores her two children; and

Whereas, Mrs. Meese worked as an attorney for a local firm in Myrtle Beach, and later became President and CEO of her family business, Sea Mist Oceanfront Resort. She is the third generation to be involved in this over 50 year-old business; and

Whereas, giving back to her community in numerous capacities, Mrs. Meese serves on the Board of Directors for Beach First National Bank, the Myrtle Beach Downtown Redevelopment Corporation, Horry-Georgetown Technical College Foundation, and Family Outreach of Horry County; and

Whereas, a "grown-up" Girl Scout, Mrs. Meese takes great pride in the lessons she learned as a young girl, and translates them into her professional and personal life today; and

Whereas, the Senate lauds Mrs. Meese for her commitment to her career and the lives of her neighbors and friends within her community, and wishes her all the best in the continued impact she is sure to have in years to come. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate of the State of South Carolina honor and recognize Leigh Ammons Meese of Myrtle Beach for her outstanding contributions to her career and community and congratulate her for receiving a Mary Dean Brewer Woman of Achievement Award on March 9, 2006.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Leigh Ammons Meese.
