 OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA UPON THE DEATH OF MR. GLENN
 CLIFFORD HUBBARD OF VARNVILLE ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 2006, AND TO EXTEND
 DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

TO EXPRESS THE SINCERE SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA UPON THE DEATH OF MR. GLENN CLIFFORD HUBBARD OF VARNVILLE ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 2006, AND TO EXTEND DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives were deeply saddened by the death of Mr. Glenn Clifford Hubbard of Varnville, who passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2006, after an extended illness; and

Whereas, born in Charlotte on July 10, 1925, Mr. Hubbard was the son of the late Paul Beckton Hubbard and Ona Lee Godfrey Hubbard; and

Whereas, wanting to serve his country, Mr. Hubbard entered the Army Air Corps at the age of seventeen, where he played in the band while stationed in several European countries and in Manila during World War II; and

Whereas, after the war, Mr. Hubbard attended the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education and met his wife, Elizabeth Tucker; and

Whereas, Mr. Hubbard went on to continue his education with a master's degree from the Vandercook School of Music in Chicago; and

Whereas, a brilliant band director in South Carolina public schools for thirty years, Mr. Hubbard directed the Delaware All-State Chorus, was adjudicator for All-State Bands in the South, and was an author and composer of music; and

Whereas, for his outstanding work, Mr. Hubbard was presented the Arts and Cultural Award by the noted Arnold Fields Community Endowment Committee, and the Wade Hampton High School Band Room was dedicated in his honor as Hubbard Hall; and

Whereas, active in his community, Mr. Hubbard was the director of the Hampton County Choral Society, interim director and a member of the First Baptist Church Choir, and Choral Director of the Clemson University Men's Choir, and he also performed in the films "Forest Gump", "Animals", and "Radio"; and

Whereas, Mr. Hubbard is survived by his wife, two daughters and sons-in-law, and two grandchildren; and

Whereas, it is with great sadness that the members of the House of Representatives pause to reflect upon the death of Mr. Glenn Clifford Hubbard, and the members extend their condolences to his family and many friends on the loss of this fine South Carolinian. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express their sincere sorrow upon the death of Mr. Glenn Clifford Hubbard of Varnville on Saturday, February 25, 2006, and extend deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mrs. Elizabeth Tucker Hubbard of Varnville.
