TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR JULIA M. BOYD, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY RELATIONS SERVICES FOR RICHLAND SCHOOL DISTRICT TWO, FOR HER OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO SOUTH CAROLINA PUBLIC EDUCATION, AND TO WISH HER ALL THE BEST UPON HER RETIREMENT.

Whereas, a Bonneau, South Carolina native, Dr. Julia Boyd attended Berkeley County public schools; and

Whereas, a graduate of South Carolina State UniversityNext and Nova Southern PreviousUniversity, Julia M. Boyd celebrates an exceptional thirty-two year career with Richland School District Two; and

Whereas, for twenty-four years, Dr. Boyd worked as a district level administrator, ably serving in numerous capacities within the Division of Instruction before being tapped to oversee the district's newly created Department of Community Relations Services; and

Whereas, before joining Richland District Two staff, she served as a media secialist in the Richland County Public Library and taught in Department of Defense schools in Frankfurt, Germany; and

Whereas, a devoted wife and mother, Dr. Boyd shares a loving marriage with Samuel J. Boyd, Sr. Together, they are blessed with two adoring children, Samuel II and Julietta Elease, and four grandchildren; and

Whereas, an active member of her community, Dr. Boyd is involved in many civic and service organizations, including the Columbia Chamber of Commerce, the Northeast Area Council, the Urban League Guild, Partners for Minorities in Engineering and Computer Science, and the Ridgewood Ladies Golf Club, among others; and

Whereas, a past president of the Spring Valley Rotary Club, Dr. Boyd was awarded the Governor's Citation and the Outstanding Club President Award for District 7770; and

Whereas, a leader among peers in her profession, she served as President of the Allied Administrators Division and as President of the South Carolina Association of School Administrators; and

Whereas, it is with great pride that the members of the South Carolina General Assembly pause in their deliberations to honor Dr. Julia Boyd for her incredible commitment to serving the needs of South Carolina public schools. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and honor Julia M. Boyd, Executive Director of Community Relations Services for Richland School District Two, for her outstanding contributions to South Carolina public education, and wish her all the best upon her retirement.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Julia M. Boyd.
