A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND THE FIRST GROUP OF OUTSTANDING YOUNG MEN PARTICIPATING IN THE DEDICATED AND DILIGENT SERVICE (DADS) MENTORING PROGRAM ON THEIR GRADUATION FROM WOODLAND HIGH SCHOOL, IN DORCHESTER SCHOOL DISTRICT FOUR, FOR THEIR SCHOLASTIC ACHIEVEMENTS AND TO WISH THEM THE BEST IN THEIR FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives take great pride in honoring the achievements of South Carolina's youth; and

Whereas, a group of outstanding young men earned great distinction in the Medical UniversityNext of South Carolina Research Program initiated by Mr. Calvin Malone to promote a male mentor in the educational setting for male students that did not otherwise have a father figure to participate in their education; and

Whereas, Mr. Malone's brainchild, the Dedicated and Diligent Service (DADS) Mentoring Program was first funded by the Medical PreviousUniversity of South Carolina with the partnership of the Trident Urban League and with continued support for funding from Lafarge North America Cement Company; and

Whereas, the DADS Program promotes character development and leadership skills through dedicated positive community role models in an educational mentoring program; and

Whereas, the DADS Program began at Jenkins Hill Elementary and continued at Harleyville-Ridgeville with Mr. Ronald Loy serving as coordinator; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives are confident that this achievement of high school graduation with the help of the DADS Program is but one of the first of many accolades and honors these students will earn throughout their lifetimes. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commend the first group of outstanding young men participating in the DADS Program: Messrs. Antwan Elmore, Keon'te Cobbs, Brandon Jenkins, and Rasheed Braxton, on their graduation from Woodland High School, in Dorchester School District Four, with the support of this male mentoring program and wish them the best in their future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dorchester School District Four and Lafarge North American Cement Company.
