A CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION
COMMENDING AND THANKING S. HUNTER HOWARD, JR., FOR
HIS OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO THE STATE AS A MEMBER
AND CHAIRMAN OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA TAX
COMMISSION.
Whereas, Samuel Hunter Howard, Jr., originally of Greenville County,
served as a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives
from 1975 to 1982; and
Whereas, he graduated in 1974 from the University of South Carolina
and became a certified public accountant; and
Whereas, following his service in the House as a representative from
Greenville County, he accepted an appointment as a member of the
South Carolina Tax Commission; and
Whereas, he served with distinction as a member and as the chairman of
the commission through 1991, when he retired from the agency to
pursue other endeavors; and
Whereas, his knowledge and experience, as well as his dedication,
combined to make him one of the most outstanding public servants in
the Palmetto State; and
Whereas, the General Assembly and the people of South Carolina deeply
appreciate his many contributions to good government in this State and
will miss his excellent service. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this
resolution, commends and thanks S. Hunter Howard, Jr., for his
outstanding service to the State as a member and chairman of the South
Carolina Tax Commission.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to S.
Hunter Howard, Jr.
