RESOLUTION
CONGRATULATING AND SALUTING MISS BRANDY LEE
PURVIS OF CLARENDON COUNTY, THE SOUTH CAROLINA
FARM BUREAU STATE QUEEN, AND INVITING HER TO
RECEIVE THIS RESOLUTION ON THE FLOOR OF THE HOUSE
OF REPRESENTATIVES ON A DATE AND AT A TIME
DESIGNATED BY THE SPEAKER.
Whereas, Miss Brandy Lee Purvis of Clarendon County has been
selected as the South Carolina Farm Bureau State Queen; and
Whereas, Miss Purvis is a freshman attending Coker College on a tennis
scholarship; and
Whereas, she teaches young children to play tennis two mornings a
week and is an aerobics instructor; and
Whereas, she also helps teach deaf persons the development of sign
language; and
Whereas, she was chosen the most valuable player on her high school
tennis team three years in a row and won the title of Miss Manning High
School for 1989-90; and
Whereas, she was the first runner-up in the Miss Striped Bass Pageant
for 1988-89 and 1989-90 and was the first runner up in the Miss Paxville
Pageant for 1989-90; and
Whereas, she was voted a Super Senior at Manning High and was
nominated to Girls State in 1988-89; and
Whereas, she is the daughter of Mrs. Linda Youmans of Sumter and Mr.
Russell Purvis of Manning; and
Whereas, Miss Purvis' hobbies and interests include aerobics, reading,
and working with young children and her talents include dancing and
tennis; and
Whereas, she plans eventually to attend the Medical University of South
Carolina to pursue a degree in pediatric nursing; and
Whereas, she is an outstanding young woman who is both very lovely
and talented and who is also a concerned and caring person; and
Whereas, she is a most deserving winner of the South Carolina Farm
Bureau State Queen title and is an excellent representative of the
Palmetto State. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this
resolution, congratulates and salutes Miss Brandy Lee Purvis of
Clarendon County, the South Carolina Farm Bureau State Queen.
Be it further resolved that she be invited to receive this resolution on the
floor of the House of Representatives on a date and at a time designated
by the Speaker.
Be it further resolved that this resolution be presented to Miss Purvis and
that copies be forwarded to the following: Miss Purvis' mother, Mrs.
Linda Youmans, 870 West Liberty Street, Sumter, South Carolina,
