H. 3561

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY UPON THE PreviousDEATHNext OF ARIE LANDRUM OF BISHOPVILLE, AND TO EXTEND DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were deeply saddened to learn of the PreviousdeathNext of Arie Landrum of Bishopville at the age of sixty-eight; and

Whereas, Mr. Landrum moved to Bishopville with his wife, Argent, ten years ago to buy radio station WAGS. He sold the radio station several years later, but continued to work as an on-air personality. Mr. Landrum enjoyed broadcasting local basketball games and would provide the play-by-play action; and

Whereas, a tireless supporter of community projects and the arts, Mr. Landrum and his wife were active with the Lee County Players. Having worked in television most of his life and his fondness for Broadway musicals, he helped in the local productions of "South Pacific," "The Sound of Music," "Annie Get Your Gun," "Oklahoma," and "Steel Magnolias;" and

Whereas, Mr. Landrum served as director of the Lee County Chamber of Commerce for eight years in an effort to attract new development to the county. In 2001, Mr. Landrum decided to serve as office manager of the Lee County Arts Council where he performed the duties of an executive director since the funds to hire one were insufficient; and

Whereas, the General Assembly extends its deepest sympathy to the family and many friends of this truly fine man. He is survived by his wife, Argent; son, Mark; and daughter, Janice. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the Previousdeath of Arie Landrum of Bishopville and extend deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to his widow, Mrs. Arie Landrum of Bishopville.
