A JOINT RESOLUTION

TO DIRECT THE SENATE FINANCE COMMITTEE AND THE HOUSE WAYS AND MEANS COMMITTEE TO COORDINATE A COMMITTEE TO STUDY AND DEVELOP A PLAN TO ADDRESS THE NEED OF PROVIDING ADDITIONAL LANDS FOR PUBLIC USE IN THE STATE'S WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA (WMA) PROGRAM, TO PROVIDE FOR MEMBERSHIP OF THE COMMITTEE, TO PROVIDE FOR INPUT FROM USER GROUPS AND THE TIMBER INDUSTRY, TO PROVIDE FOR A REPORT, AND TO PROVIDE FOR DISSOLUTION OF THE COMMITTEE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The Senate Finance Committee and the House Ways and Means Committee are directed to coordinate a committee to study and develop a plan to address the need of providing additional lands for public use in the state's Wildlife Management Area (WMA) program. The committee shall consist of the following members: two from the Senate Finance Committee, two from the House Ways and Means Committee, one from the Governor's Office, one from the Department of Natural Resources, one from the State Forestry Commission, one from the Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism, and one from Clemson University-Public Service Activities. The committee shall include two ad hoc nonvoting members from the State Forestry Association. The committee shall seek input from the appropriate user groups, to include but not be limited to, representatives from sportsman's groups and the timber industry. The committee shall submit a report to the Governor, the Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee and the Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee no later than January 15, 2001. The committee shall dissolve when the report is completed.

SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
