 A HOUSE RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING THE HONORABLE GILL FRIERSON OF
 CLARENDON COUNTY FOR HIS DEVOTED, OUTSTANDING SERVICE AS A MEMBER OF THE
 SUMMERTON TOWN COUNCIL.

RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING THE HONORABLE GILL FRIERSON OF CLARENDON COUNTY FOR HIS DEVOTED, OUTSTANDING SERVICE AS A MEMBER OF THE SUMMERTON TOWN COUNCIL.

Whereas, The Honorable Gill Frierson of Clarendon County was elected to the Summerton Town Council in 1996 and is retiring from service on the council this year; and

Whereas, Mr. Frierson has been active in youth sports in the community, has served as a volunteer with the town and the county fire departments, and has been a strong advocate for the police and fire departments; and

Whereas, during his tenure as a town council member, the Town of Summerton received several million dollars in federal and state grants for housing rehabilitation and water and sewer improvements; Mr. Frierson served faithfully on the Police and Finance committees and was chairman of the Industrial and Commerce Committee; he labored to obtain a new fire department building for the town and lobbied for the town's first new fire truck in twenty years; he also worked diligently to appoint a new fire chief and to reorganize the town's volunteer fire department - efforts which increased participation, training, and morale of the volunteers; and

Whereas, he has been an outstanding town council member and a devoted public servant; he is respected and admired throughout the community, and we are delighted to have this opportunity to recognize and commend him. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognizes and commends The Honorable Gill Frierson of Clarendon County for his devoted, outstanding service as a member of the Summerton Town Council.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to The Honorable Gill Frierson.
