A BILL

TO ENACT THE "SOUTH CAROLINA GARNISHMENT PROCEDURE ACT"; TO PROVIDE SUBJECT MATTER EXEMPTIONS FROM THE APPLICATION OF THIS ACT; AND TO EXEMPT A FIRST JUDGMENT FROM THE PROVISIONS OF THIS ACT, PROVIDE THAT THE ACT APPLIES ONLY TO CERTAIN SECOND OR SUBSEQUENT JUDGMENTS, AND PROVIDE THAT THE ACT IS OPTIONAL WITH A QUALIFYING JUDGMENT CREDITOR AND IS NOT AN EXCLUSIVE REMEDY.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The "South Carolina Garnishment Procedure Act" is enacted under the following conditions:

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
