TO PROVIDE THAT AN ORGANIZATION WHICH REGISTERS HUNTING OR TOY BREEDS OF DOGS IN THIS STATE AND REQUIRES PUPPY LITTER ENROLLMENTS AND ASSIGNS AN INDIVIDUAL PERMANENT IDENTIFICATION NUMBER ON EACH PUPPY SHALL NOT REQUIRE ANY ADDITIONAL REGISTRATION PAPERS IF THE IDENTIFIED DOG IS RETAINED BY THE ORIGINAL BREEDER OR ORIGINAL KENNEL; AND TO PROHIBIT THE SOUTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE AND MARINE RESOURCES FROM PERMITTING OR LICENSING A FIELD TRIAL OR BENCH SHOW SANCTIONED BY A NATIONAL REGISTRY ORGANIZATION WHICH REQUIRES ANY ADDITIONAL REGISTRATION ON A DOG OWNED BY THE ORIGINAL BREEDER OR KENNEL.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. (A) An organization doing business in this State which maintains a registry of hunting or toy breeds of dogs which requires puppy litter enrollments and assigns an individual permanent identification number on each puppy, shall not require any further registration papers if the identified dog is retained by the original breeder or original kennel.
(B) The South Carolina Department of Wildlife and Marine Resources shall not license or issue a permit for a field trial or bench show for dogs if the event is sanctioned by a national registry organization which requires, as a prerequisite to the dog's participation in the trial or show, any additional registration on a dog owned by the original breeder or kennel."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
