TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 56-1-25 SO AS TO REQUIRE THE DIVISION OF MOTOR VEHICLES OF THE DEPARTMENT OF REVENUE AND TAXATION TO INCLUDE ON EVERY MOTOR VEHICLE DRIVER'S LICENSE AND PERSONAL IDENTIFICATION CARD IT ISSUES THE NATIONAL CITIZENSHIP OF THE PERSON TO WHOM THE LICENSE OR CARD IS ISSUED.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 56-1-25. The Division of Motor Vehicles of the Department of Revenue and Taxation shall cause to be printed on every motor vehicle driver's license and every personal identification card issued pursuant to the provisions of Title 56 of the 1976 Code the national citizenship of the person to whom the license or the card is issued."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor, except that, in the case of motor vehicle driver's licenses and personal identification cards already issued at the time this act becomes effective, the Division of Motor Vehicles of the Department of Transportation is authorized to comply with Section 56-1-25 of the 1976 Code when those licenses and cards are presented for renewal.
