ELECTION OF A COURT OF APPEALS JUDGE, SEAT 9

The President announced that nominations were in order for a Court of Appeals Judge, Seat 9.

Senator McConnell, Chairman of the Joint Screening Committee, stated that the following candidates had been screened and found qualified: the Honorable Ralph King Anderson, Jr., the Honorable Ruben L. Gray, the Honorable Douglas L. Hinds, the Honorable Wallace K. Lightsey, the Honorable Joseph D. Shine, and the Honorable Charles B. Simmons, Jr.

Senator McConnell stated that the following candidates had withdrawn from the contest: Ruben L. Gray, Douglas L. Hinds, and Joseph D. Shine.

Reps. CROMER, WRIGHT and HARVIN seconded the nomination of Mr. Anderson.

Rep. STUART and Senator Courson seconded the nomination of Mr. Lightsey.

On motion of Senator McConnell, nominations were closed.
