CONGRATULATING GARY D. ADAMS, HEAD COACH OF THE LADY TIGERS SOFTBALL TEAM OF CRESCENT HIGH SCHOOL OF IVA, ON BEING HONORED WHEN THE CRESCENT HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL FIELD WAS RECENTLY NAMED FOR HIM, AND SALUTING THE LADY TIGERS AND CRESCENT HIGH SCHOOL ON THE DEDICATION OF THE SCHOOL'S NEW SOFTBALL FIELD.

Whereas, for the past nineteen years, the Lady Tigers of Crescent High School of Iva have played their home games on a city recreation field; starting in 1997, they will play on their new field behind the high school; and

Whereas, more than four hundred softball fans and supporters of the team turned out recently for the dedication of the new Crescent High School softball field; and

Whereas, the field, very fittingly, is named the "Gary D. Adams Field" in honor of Head Coach Gary Adams, who has coached the Lady Tigers of Crescent High School since 1977; and

Whereas, the softball program has had phenomenal success; under Coach Adams' leadership and direction, the Lady Tigers have won thirteen state crowns--a national record--and have finished second twice; the Lady Tigers also hold the national record for the most consecutive state championships, with nine in a row; and

Whereas, the recent dedication ceremonies were a proud moment for Crescent High School and the Town of Iva because the success of the softball program under Coach Adams has brought about genuine community pride and involvement; and

Whereas, we share in the joy of the school's, as well as the town's, accomplishments and are pleased to have this opportunity to provide special recognition to Crescent High School, the Lady Tigers Softball Team, and Head Coach Gary D. Adams. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates Gary D. Adams, Head Coach of the Lady Tigers Softball Team of Crescent High School of Iva, on being honored when the Crescent High School softball field was recently named for him.

Be it further resolved that the General Assembly salutes the Lady Tigers and Crescent High School on the dedication of the school's new softball field.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Lady Tigers Softball Team of Crescent High School and to Coach Gary Adams.
