A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXTEND CONGRATULATIONS TO THE CENTRAL, SOUTH CAROLINA DANIEL HIGH SCHOOL "LADY LIONS" GIRLS' VOLLEYBALL TEAM, COACHES, AND STAFF FOR AN OUTSTANDING SEASON BY WINNING THE 1997 CLASS AAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are proud to have an opportunity to recognize the Central, South Carolina Daniel High School "Lady Lions" Girls' Volleyball Team on their successful 1997 season; and

Whereas, the Lady Lions, after a grueling preseason training schedule, won twenty straight matches, ten at home and ten on the road and had a final season of twenty-six wins and two losses; and

Whereas, the Lady Lions went on the win the Region 1 championship, then defeated Brookland-Cayce in the upper state finals to advance to the state finals; and

Whereas, the Lady Lions' adversary in the state finals was Camden High School, the match ended with a five game triumph to capture the 1997 Class AAA State Championship; and

Whereas, the excellent coaching of Head Coach Larry Jones, along with Assistant Coaches Amy Norris and Steve Hester, clearly paid significant dividends for the Lady Lions by their winning this prestigious championship; and

Whereas, deserving of recognition, this exceptional team consisted of: Seniors, Kelly Alexander, Natalie Boren, Jennifer Conover, Lesley Geer, Shannon Green, Jennifer Hensen, Courtney Holladay and Anna Sill; Juniors, Laura Bauld, Jennifer Geer, Karen Trapnell, and Ann Wells; Sophomores, Jenny Alexander, Katherine Dean and Lauren Green; and

Whereas, the talented Lady Lions Volleyball Team played hard to bring the victory banner home, and the General Assembly commends these fine young ladies and their coaches for their accomplishments during the 1997 season. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, extend congratulations to the Central, South Carolina Daniel High School "Lady Lions" Girls' Volleyball Team, coaches, and staff for an outstanding season by winning the 1997 Class AAA State Championship.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Head Coach Larry Jones.
