A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXTEND THE SINCERE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA TO OFFICER WAYNE HUTCHERSON OF UNION COUNTY UPON THE OCCASION OF BEING SELECTED AS WILDLIFE OFFICER OF THE YEAR FOR DISTRICT SEVEN.

Whereas, Officer Wayne Hutcherson, a long-time resident of Union County, has been a Game Warden with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources for twenty-five years; and

Whereas, this award recognizes individuals that exemplify dedication, loyalty, productivity, and professionalism in making law enforcement work in the Palmetto State; and

Whereas, Wayne Hutcherson graduated from Massey College in Georgia and is a graduate of the South Carolina Police Academy. He served his country with dignity and honor in the United States Army and was discharged in 1969; and

Whereas, he is a devoted husband to his wife, Janice, and they are the proud parents of two daughters, Jennifer and Audrey; and

Whereas, following his first four years of employment with the South Carolina Wildlife Department (now known as Department of Natural Resources), Officer Hutcherson was promoted to First Sergeant; and

Whereas, for many years Officer Hutcherson has been actively involved in the "Say No to Drugs" fishing rodeo -- an event held annually for children; and

Whereas, even though Officer Hutcherson's normal working days may be long and tedious, he still finds time to serve as the Chairman of the Deacons at Mount Joy Baptist Church, along with serving as President of the Baptist Men's Brotherhood Association, and teaches Sunday School. He is also a Mason and a Shriner; and

Whereas, Officer Hutcherson's work ethic and demeanor have earned him the justifiable affection and respect of all with whom he has worked or served; and

Whereas, we are proud to have this opportunity to recognize Officer Wayne Hutcherson's distinguished career and tireless dedication as a positive role model and example for all of his peers to emulate. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, extend their sincere congratulations to Officer Wayne Hutcherson of Union County upon the occasion of being selected as Wildlife Officer of the Year for District Seven.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Officer Wayne Hutcherson.
