SALUTING AND THANKING THE HONORABLE JERRY ROBERTSON, MAYOR OF MANNING, FOR HIS OUTSTANDING SERVICE AS MAYOR FROM 1996 TO 2000 AND AS CITY COUNCILMAN FOR THE CITY OF MANNING FROM 1994 TO 1996.
Whereas, the Honorable Oscar G. (Jerry) Robertson served as a member of Manning's city council from 1994 to 1996 and as Mayor of Manning from 1996 to 2000; and
Whereas, he attended Gable School, which later became Black River High School, graduating in 1952; he attended the University of South Carolina and worked with the United States Fish and Wildlife Service; and
Whereas, he has been a member of the South Carolina National Guard and owned and operated a wholesale business in Manning; and
Whereas, he also worked with Southern Coatings and Chemical Company, served as treasurer of Methodist Church School, of which he has been a member since 1957; and
Whereas, he was instrumental in forming a Clarendon County sportsman's association and served on the Santee-Cooper Promotions Commission; and
Whereas, he has been president of the South Carolina Duck Calling Association and chairman of Clarendon County's first Striped Bass Festival; and
Whereas, he has served on the Santee/Lynches Council of Government and on the Board of the South Carolina Municipal Association; and
Whereas, he has been a devoted model public servant and has contributed greatly of his time, energy, and talents to the community and the State for many years; and
Whereas, we are very pleased to have this opportunity to accord him this special recognition. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, salute and thank the Honorable Jerry Robertson, Mayor of Manning, for his outstanding service as mayor from 1996 to 2000 and as city councilman for the city of Manning from 1994 to 1996.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mayor Robertson.
