The Senate assembled at 12:00 Noon, the hour to which it stood adjourned, and was called to order by the PRESIDENT.

A quorum being present, the proceedings were opened with a devotion by the Chaplain as follows:

Beloved, hear some words about a zeal for the common good! Psalm 119:130, 143:

"My zeal consumes me...

Thy righteousness is righteous forever, and Thy law is true.

Trouble and anguish have come upon me, but Thy commandments are my delight.

Thy testimonies are righteous forever;

Give me understanding that I may live!"
Let us pray.

We thank You, Heavenly Father, for a weekend at home with our loved ones and renewal of our strengths, vigor, and mental and spiritual powers.

In this holy moment, we renew our vows to You and our people.

You have given zeal to many. Give it, Lord, to all of us.

The Psalmist said, "MY ZEAL CONSUMES ME... your testimonies are right... GIVE ME UNDERSANDING THAT I MAY LIVE!

We beg for these gifts for our peoples' sake!
Amen.

The PRESIDENT called for Petitions, Memorials, Presentments of Grand Juries and such like papers.
