A JOINT RESOLUTION TO ADOPT REVISED CODE VOLUMES 8 AND 12 AND NEW VOLUMES 7A AND 12A OF THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, TO THE EXTENT OF THEIR CONTENTS, AS THE ONLY GENERAL PERMANENT STATUTORY LAW OF THE STATE AS OF JANUARY 1, 2003.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Revised volumes
SECTION 1. (A) Section 2-13-90 of the 1976 Code authorizes the Legislative Council and the Code Commissioner to contract to be prepared and published under their supervision and direction revised volumes of the Code of Laws when, in their judgment, the supplement of any volume becomes too bulky for convenient use.
(B) The Legislative Council and the Code Commissioner have determined that the cumulative supplements to Volumes 8 and 12 have become too bulky for convenient use.
(C) Section 2-13-90 of the 1976 Code also provides that the revised volumes must be submitted to the General Assembly for its consideration.
Volumes adopted
SECTION 2. (A) Revised Volume 8 containing Title 17, Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, is substituted for original Volume 8 which contained Titles 16 and 17.
(B) Revised Volume 12 containing a portion of Title 36, Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, is substituted for original Volume 12 which contained all of Title 36.
(C) New Volume 7A containing Title 16, Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, is substituted for original Volume 8 which contained Titles 16 and 17.
(D) New Volume 12A containing a portion of Title 36, Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, is substituted for original Volume 12 which contained all of Title 36.
(E) Revised Volumes 8 and 12 and new Volumes 7A and 12A are adopted as part of the Code of Laws and, to the extent of their contents, the only general permanent statutory law of the State as of January 1, 2003.
Time effective
SECTION 3. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
Ratified the 6th day of March, 2003.
Approved the 12th day of March, 2003.
